Terms of service
Last updated 19 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and SOYSTEK LTD. They apply when you use the zillipay app. Please read them together with our privacy policy. By creating an account, you agree to these terms.
About zillipay
zillipay is run by SOYSTEK LTD, a company registered in Nigeria (RC 7863262). Our registered office is Suite D15B, Emab Plaza, Aminu Kano Crescent, Abuja, FCT, Nigeria.
zillipay is a payments app. SOYSTEK LTD is not a bank and does not take deposits.
Your naira account number, wallet and transfers are provided through Fincra and its partner banks. Money in your wallet is held through them.
zillipay does not pay interest and does not give investment advice.
Who can use zillipay
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must live in Nigeria and have a valid Bank Verification Number (BVN).
- You must pass our identity checks. Some features stay locked until you do.
- A business account is for a business registered in Nigeria with a CAC number. You must be a director of the business or be authorised to act for it.
We may refuse to open an account, or close one, if we cannot verify who you are or if the law requires it.
Your account and its security
- Give us accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Keep your password, PIN and phone safe. Enter your password, PIN and verification codes only in the zillipay app. zillipay staff will never ask you for them by email, phone, chat or in person, and never need them to help you. Never send them to anyone, including us.
- You are responsible for payments and other actions you approve, and for payouts your autopay settings allow.
If your phone is lost or your account is at risk, freeze your account in the app from another device, or email contact@zillipay.com and we will freeze it for you. Then reset your password.
Freezing your account
You can freeze your account in the app (Profile > Security > Freeze my account) if your phone is lost or you think someone else is using it. We may also freeze your account, or a business account, to protect you or others, for example after a report of a lost phone, suspected fraud, or for legal or compliance reasons.
While your account is frozen, nobody can sign in or send money from it, including payouts and payroll from a business you own. If only a business account is frozen, its payouts and payroll stop, and the owner can still sign in and use their personal account. Money sent to a frozen account still arrives. Payments that had already been sent to the bank are not recalled, and payouts waiting for approval are cancelled.
Only zillipay can unfreeze an account. Email contact@zillipay.com from the email address on your account and we will check it is you first. We may ask you to reset your password before you sign in again.
Payments
- Check the recipient, the name the bank shows, the account details and the amount before you confirm a payment with your PIN or Face ID.
- A payment shows as pending until the bank confirms the result. While it is pending or unclear, the amount is held in your balance. Do not send it again: while a bank transfer is unclear, we will not accept an identical one for up to 24 hours. Contact us with the reference.
- If the bank says a payment failed, the held amount is released back to your balance.
- When Fincra confirms that the receiving bank accepted a payment, the payment is complete and we cannot cancel it. If you sent money to the wrong account, we will help you ask the receiving bank to return it, but we cannot promise it will.
- If a bank reverses a payment after it was confirmed, we put the money back in your balance automatically and tell you.
- If a payment we showed as failed later turns out to have gone through, we take the amount from your balance once. If your balance cannot cover it, we will contact you.
- Providers, banks or checks the law requires can delay or stop a payment. If that happens, we will tell you in the app.
- If money reaches your account by mistake, you must not spend it, and we may reverse it.
Payments you did not make
If a payment was made from your account without your permission, tell us as soon as you can. We will investigate, work with Fincra and the banks to recover the money, and tell you what we found and what we will do. This does not affect any right you have under Nigerian law, including any right to a refund.
Fees and limits
- zillipay does not charge a fee for sending money, paying a zilli_tag or business payouts.
- When money is paid into your account, Fincra may take a collection fee before it reaches your wallet. Where Fincra reports the fee, your receipt shows it.
- If we decide to charge a fee, we will tell you before it starts and show it in the app before you confirm a payment it applies to. A new fee on automatic payouts will require your agreement before those payouts can continue under the new fee.
- There are limits on how much you can send. Personal daily limits depend on your verification level. Business payout limits are set by you, within our maximums. Limits can also come from Fincra, banks and regulators. If a payment is over a limit, the app tells you.
Business accounts and autopay
You are responsible for the payouts you make and approve, the autopay rules you set and the apps you connect.
Autopay controls payouts that connected apps ask for. We switch it on for an approved business, and you then choose a mode with your PIN:
- Off. Connected apps cannot make payouts from your business balance. You can still pay people yourself.
- Approve each payout. Each payout a connected app asks for waits for you. You approve or decline it in the app with your PIN. A payout you do not approve within 30 minutes expires and no money moves.
- Automatic. Connected apps you approved can make payouts without asking you each time, within your limits and blocked banks. Choosing Automatic with your PIN is a standing instruction: it covers every payout that fits your rules until you change the mode, pause it or disconnect the app.
- Limits. Every payout must fit your per-payout and daily limits. You can also set lower night limits for 11pm to 8am Lagos time; they apply to payouts made without your PIN. Daily limits restart at midnight Lagos time. Payouts you make yourself count towards the daily limit.
- Blocked banks. You can choose banks your business will never pay, or never pay without your approval.
- Pausing. You can set autopay to Off at any time. Payouts that were accepted but have not started are then refused. Payouts already sent to the bank cannot be stopped. We may also pause autopay for a business, for example to protect it or because the law requires it.
Connected apps
- Check the permissions before you approve a connection, and remove access you no longer need.
- Each connected app is a separate service with its own terms. It is responsible for what it does with your business information and with the permissions you gave it.
- Disconnecting an app stops its access straight away. Payouts from that connection waiting for approval or still queued are stopped. Payments already being sent can still finish. Reconnecting the app does not restore its old payout instructions.
- Our privacy policy lists what a connected app can see.
Bybit (invited business accounts only)
- We offer Bybit features only to business accounts we invite. You need your own Bybit account and must follow Bybit's terms. Bybit is a separate company and is not part of zillipay.
- When connected, zillipay reads your Bybit P2P orders, adverts and payment methods to match them with naira payments. If you give a key with P2P advert permission, zillipay can also publish, change and take your P2P advert offline. Changes asked for by a connected app wait for your PIN.
- zillipay never releases crypto from a P2P order. You do that yourself on Bybit.
- zillipay never withdraws, transfers or converts your funds on Bybit. We refuse any key that has those permissions.
- zillipay does not hold crypto for you and does not give investment advice. Crypto prices can change quickly and you can lose money.
- You can pause Bybit in the app at any time. This stops new automated work and asks Bybit to take your adverts offline while keeping your key. If Bybit cannot confirm that they are offline, check and stop them on Bybit yourself. Removing the key in the app erases it from zillipay. To stop all access, also delete the key on Bybit.
Things you must not do
- Use zillipay for anything illegal, including fraud, scams, money laundering or terrorist financing.
- Use someone else's identity or account, or give us false information.
- Try to get around our checks or limits, or interfere with zillipay or other users.
We may pause or limit your account, hold a payment, or close your account if we reasonably suspect any of these, or if the law, a court, Fincra, a bank or a regulator requires it. Where the law allows, we will tell you why and how to challenge our decision.
Closing your account
In the app, go to Profile > Delete account and confirm with your PIN. If you cannot use the app, email contact@zillipay.com from the email address on your account and we will help you.
- We email you when we receive the request. A zillipay admin then checks that it really comes from you.
- We complete the deletion within 7 calendar days after we verify the request, and email you when it is done.
- We cannot delete an account that still has money in it, payments still being processed, payouts waiting for approval, or open trades or Bybit orders. The app shows you what needs to be sorted first. Move any balance to a bank account in your name before you ask.
- You can cancel the request until we start deleting.
- Deleting signs you out on every device and removes your PINs. Connected apps lose their access, autopay is turned off and any Bybit key is erased.
- We keep the records described under "How long we keep it" in our privacy policy, for the periods shown there.
- Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account.
We may also close your account. We will tell you in advance, unless the law or a security risk means we must act at once. We will return any balance to a bank account in your name, after any checks the law requires.
Complaints
Email contact@zillipay.com with the email address on your account, what happened, what you would like us to do, and any transaction reference. Never send your password, PIN or verification codes.
- We will acknowledge your complaint within 2 working days and give you a reference.
- We aim to resolve it within 14 days. If we need more time, for example because we are waiting for Fincra or a bank, we will tell you why and when to expect an answer.
- When we have finished, we will tell you our decision, the reasons for it, and where you can take it next.
If you are not happy with our answer, or we have not answered in time, you can take your complaint further. Where it goes depends on what it is about:
- A payment, deposit or account number. These are provided by Fincra and its partner banks, which have their own complaint processes. We will raise the complaint with them for you. If their process does not resolve it, you can escalate a complaint about an institution the Central Bank of Nigeria regulates to the CBN's consumer protection department at cpd@cbn.gov.ng (cbn.gov.ng).
- How we treated you as a consumer, for example our terms, service or charges: the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (fccpc.gov.ng).
- Your personal information: the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (ndpc.gov.ng).
- You can also go to court. Using our complaints process first does not take away any of these rights.
Changes to zillipay
zillipay may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance or when a provider or bank has a problem. We will work to restore it quickly.
We may change or stop features. If a change affects you badly, we will tell you in advance where we can.
Our responsibility to you
Please read this section carefully. It limits what we are responsible for.
We are responsible for losses caused by our breach of these terms or by our negligence, or by the negligence of people working for us. We are not responsible for losses that we could not reasonably foresee, that were caused by events outside our reasonable control, or that came from your breach of these terms, including sharing your password, PIN or verification codes.
If a loss is caused by Fincra, a bank or another provider, we will help you raise it with them.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under Nigerian law that cannot be limited, including under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will tell you in the app or by email before an important change takes effect, with enough time to read it and to close your account if you do not agree. A change the law requires may take effect sooner.
If you keep using zillipay after a change takes effect, the new terms apply. If a change needs your consent under the law, we will ask for it instead.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The courts of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, will deal with any dispute, unless the law gives you the right to go to another court.
Please use our complaints process first. Most problems can be solved that way. This does not stop you from complaining to a regulator or going to court.
